When the next step
is a different path.
Accompanied realignment for senior leaders who know: ascent is no longer the right answer.
You have reached the top level — and notice that this was not the goal. Or you sense that the next step has to be a different path. We accompany senior leaders and entrepreneurs in the phase of real realignment — not at the next promotion, but at the next identity. Confidential. Structured. Methodologically deep.
Discreet · Values-based · Limited capacity · Depth before pace
What real career realignment means.
It is not a job change. It is a question of identity.
IT IS NOT A JOB CHANGE
Moving to the next position is an operational decision. A real realignment is an identity decision. Who am I beyond the role? What do I really want? What can I no longer do? These questions need depth work, not an application strategy.
IT BEGINS WITHIN
Before something can change on the outside, something must clarify on the inside. Values, strengths, sources of energy, points of pain, life phase. With you we build the inner clarity from which the outer decision can be made cleanly — without acting out, without fleeing.
IT IS A PROCESS, NOT A MOMENT
Real realignment takes time. Three to six months as a Build format, often longer. Most mistakes happen when people skip this phase — and then experience the same again in the next role. Depth needs time. And time is the most effective investment.
Career realignment is one of the most frequently misunderstood coaching fields. Most people arrive with an operational concern: „I need a new position.“ Or: „I want to change industries.“ Or: „I am ready for the next stage.“
In most cases, this is not the actual question. The actual question lies underneath: who am I when I am no longer what I was? What do I really want? What identity construction have I built that no longer carries me? Which values are non-negotiable for me — even when uncomfortable?
We work on two levels simultaneously: deep within (identity, values, energy, inner truth) and pragmatically without (market options, transition architecture, financial planning, communication). Both belong together.
Methodologically we connect transition psychology by William Bridges, career anchors by Edgar Schein, identity work, values clarification, systemic reflection and pragmatic market strategy. What counts is not the theory — but that, by the end, you know what you want, what you can do, what it really costs and how to arrive there cleanly.
The result: a next phase that is genuinely yours. Not one that merely sounds logical.
For whom — and when the right time is.
Specific. Clear. On both sides.
- ✓Senior leaders who have reached C-level — and sense that this was not the goal
- ✓CEOs after exit who want to define the next phase of life
- ✓Senior executives in industry-transformation phases
- ✓Entrepreneurs in the succession phase who are shaping what comes next
- ✓Founders between ventures who do not want to jump into the next hype
- ✓Leaders with high responsibility who place inner truth above position
- ✕Anyone who needs a quick application strategy (different format)
- ✕Anyone acting from frustration who wants to skip the phase
- ✕Anyone seeking coaching as confirmation of an already made decision
- ✕Anyone who treats values-fit as a matter of negotiation
- ✕Anyone unable to bear depth
Real realignment is uncomfortable. It confronts you with truths you may have ignored for a long time. If you are not willing to bear that, we are not the right partner. And we say so in the introductory call.
Six typical triggers for real realignment.
The most common occasions — and why they go deeper than they appear.
REACHED THE TOP LEVEL
You have the position you always wanted. And realise it is not what you were looking for. External comparability was the question. Inner fulfilment is the answer no one ever asked.
POST-EXIT EMPTINESS
Sale successful, balance sheet solid, family provided for. And suddenly: emptiness. Identity was the company. Who are you without it? One of the psychologically most complex phases — and one of the most frequent triggers for real realignment.
INDUSTRY TRANSFORMATION
Your industry is changing fundamentally. Tech disruption, regulation, generational shift. You know that you cannot continue in the old logic. But where is the new logic? The answer is not on the outside — it is within.
SHIFTED VALUES
What was important to you 10 years ago is no longer so. Status, admiration, position — comparatively trivial. What counts now? Meaning, impact, family, health, community. Values have shifted — the career architecture has to follow.
BODY AS A WARNING SIGN
Sleep is getting worse, energy is dropping, physical signals accumulate. The body reports what the psyche suppresses. Sometimes that is a burnout signal — sometimes it is a deep hint that a life pivot is overdue.
NEW LIFE PHASE
Children moved out, parents passed, relationship redefined, your own 50s, 60s, 70s reached. Life-phase transitions demand updates to the career architecture. Anyone who does not move with them is living in an outdated logic.
Six phases, one architecture.
How we build the realignment with you.
UPROOTING
What was? What is no longer there? What have you lost — consciously and unconsciously? We grieve what needs to be grieved. Skipping this phase means skipping depth — and making bad decisions.
CLARIFICATION
Who are you when you are no longer what you were? Values audit, strengths clarity, energy diagnostics, points of pain. We build the inner picture from which outer options first become visible.
EXPLORATION
Market options, industry realities, possible paths. We open the space without narrowing it too quickly. What is possible? What is meaningful? What fits your new inner clarity?
DECISION
From clarity and options the path crystallises. We make the decision cleanly — not from fear, not from flight, not from acting out. From inner truth, paired with pragmatic reality.
TRANSITION
The bridge from the old to the new. Communication strategy, financial planning, stakeholder mapping, transition timeline. We walk the first steps with you — structured, without pressure.
ARRIVAL
You arrive. In the new context, in the new role, in the new identity. We accompany the first weeks and months — until the new is lived reality, not only concept.
Three examples from real realignment.
Anonymised. No logos. With substance.
“I thought I needed a new position. I needed a different path.”
Successful exit after 9 years. He first considered the next C-level position — but came to see in coaching that he actually wanted to become an investor and board member. Today family-office CEO and board member at three SMEs. Clarity gained, identity redefined.
“At 52 I thought the final stage had arrived. Today I know: it was a different staircase.”
20 years at the same group, CFO for 8 years. Inner exhaustion, external expectation of the next promotion. 6 months of coaching — clarification, values update, market exploration. Today self-employed CFO-as-a-Service for four SMEs. More earnings, less pressure, more meaning.
“I was an entrepreneur for 30 years. What am I now — and what do I still want to become?”
65 years old, succession to her daughter completed. First months: emptiness, the question of identity. 12 months of accompaniment — clarification, exploration, life design. Today chair of the supervisory board, mentor to young female entrepreneurs, book project under way, quality of life at its highest level for decades.
The sources we build on.
Method meets practice. Depth is mandatory.
Career realignment without methodological depth is application coaching. We work on a different level.
From transition psychology: William Bridges (Transitions, Managing Transitions), Schein (career anchors), Levinson (life-phase model), Erikson (developmental stages).
From identity research: Hartmut Rosa (resonance theory), James Hollis (The Middle Passage, Finding Meaning), Carl Jung (the individuation process), Marc Lewis (neuro-psychological identity work).
From meaning research: Viktor Frankl (logotherapy), Friedrich Nietzsche (architecture of values), contemporary research on meaning (Martela, Steger, Wong).
From career practice: Herminia Ibarra (Working Identity, Act Like a Leader), Bill Burnett & Dave Evans (Designing Your Life), Cal Newport (So Good They Can't Ignore You).
From coaching depth: polyvagal theory by Stephen Porges for the bodily level, systemic consulting for the relational level, embodiment research for the level of embodied presence.
We combine these sources pragmatically and translate them into your reality. Not dogmatically. Method is a tool — not a religion.
